Office Staff

Marita Wieder became employed by First UMC December 1983 as the Church Secretary. She is married to Ed and they have 2 married children, Erik and Tara and 5 grandchildren.
First United Methodist Church of Homestead has been my home church since the first Sunday I arrived in Homestead after our wedding in 1972. I grew up attending Wesley United Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, NJ. Church has been such an important part of my life that the first Sunday in Homestead I walked from our apartment off 8th Street to attend First church. Throughout the years I have attended on and off but God had put people into my path that brought me back to First Church.
I have had the privilege of working in the church office with the late Orville H. Ripley, Jr., W. Ernest Dorrell & Associate Rafael Vigil, Roy Harris, Gerald Van Dyken, Carlos Otero, Martha O’Reilly, Alexis Talbott and our current Pastor, Dale Golden.

Sue was born and raised in New Jersey then moved to Virginia in 1971 after I got married. In 2004, I moved to South Florida. I am divorced with a grown son, Billy, and one granddaughter, Kendall, who live in Virginia.I started attending FUMC with Bob, Dee and Karen Hughes in December 2005 and joined the church in 2006.

I left the church for several years but God led me back to my “family,” and I have been involved in numerous church ministries since that time. I am a member of the chancel and handbell choirs and am involved with UMW, Miss Helen’s Bears and the Homestead Food Pantry. In March of 2014, Istarted volunteering in the church office and late last year became the Office Assistant. I look forward to my continued growth in Christ with my church family!
