Ivan Corbin
Pastor
Rev. Ivan Corbin joined us on July 1, 2020. He has been serving in the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church since the 1986. He and his wife, Debbie Adams Corbin, have been privileged to serve in a variety of appointments from Key West to Fruitland Park and in between. Both Pastor Ivan and Debbie are
graduates of Candler School of Theology at Emory University. In addition, Pastor Ivan is a graduate of Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia and Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky. Debbie is a graduate of one of our own United Methodist Colleges in the Florida Conference: Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
Pastor Ivan is a native of Fremont, Michigan where his father worked for Gerber Baby Foods. Primarily because of transfers by Gerber, their family lived in 5 different states including North Carolina and Arkansas. After leaving Gerber, the family moved to Divide, Colorado and then to Zephyrhills, Florida.
Pastor Ivan and Debbie have two grown children: Christopher Wesley Corbin and his wife, Portia, along with grandchildren, Louisa and Millie. Chris and Portia both serve as Episcopalian Priests in Oshkosh and New London, Wisconsin respectively. Rachel Corbin Williams and her husband Nick are proud parents of Austin and Aidan. Rachel is Associate Pastor at Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, FL and Nick works in Information Technology.
In addition to pastoral responsibilities here in Homestead, Pastor Ivan is currently serving as the President of the Historical Society of the United Methodist Church as well as the Chairperson of the Florida Annual Conference Commission on Archives and History. He also serves on the South East District Committee on Ordained Ministry.
Pastor Ivan enjoys exploring the local history of every appointment where he serves and Homestead and the surrounding areas are no exception. He is also very passionate about genealogy and is always willing to help others to discover their own roots.
The Corbins are excited to see what God has in store for our congregation as we all serve together for the Kingdom of God in this very culturally diverse community of Homestead and southwest Miami-Dade County. You will usually find Pastor Ivan in his office Monday through Thursday. Come on in and share a cup of coffee and conversation.
